Day 45—Mated For Life
February 29th, 2012 § Leave a Comment
An exercise in different scripting for an effect I learned as a teenager from an Ellusionist DVD. I always thought the ‘HEAT’ presentation was a bit odd. I’ve always been fascinated by animals who mate for life. So yeah, here it is.
Day 44—Cash Back

A weird idea using a coin and a credit card. No matter how much money you burn through you can get so me cash back. Lately there has been a wide use of this gimmick, but I haven’t seen a presentation like this.
Day 43—Pop-Pop

On Sunday morning my Pop-Pop passed away. My fascination with playing cards definitely started long before I was performing magic, on the back porch of his Ocean City house. He and I played cards and ate mixed nuts every summer. He taught me a lot of games over the years, but the one we played most was WAR. Here’s a magic plot based off our favorite game. I love you and miss you Pop-Pop, and I know we’ll play again some day.

Brittany shuffles, cuts, and deals my prediction. Awesome effect by Jay Sankey.
Day 41—Caps Off Please

While visiting friends in Savannah we were playing some board games and I decided to bust out one of my favorite effects, Jay Sankey’s Paperclipped. Low-res quality due to the iPhone upload, enjoy!
Day 40—Schaeffer Under Glass

Quick transposition effect I recorded in my hotel room in Savannah. Method-wise, this effect is dead simple, but I keep looking for ways to improve the standard two card transpo with little touches. This is mainly due to starting to perform Jay Sankey’s Walking Wounded, an effect I thoroughly enjoy. It also gets insane reactions. Cheers.
Day 39—Cards At The Dinner Table

Fun dinner magic with my dear SCAD friends during my weekend trip to Savannah. I missed this town a lot and it was pretty fitting to do magic in it after such a great day.

Man, I love Sankey’s stuff. This effect is brilliant on so many levels. Plus, it’s super visual and you end clean. Lastly, it’s very organic to use at somewhere like Starbucks or Dunkin’. From Sankey’s Kaleidoscope DVD.

I perform a prediction effect for my mom while waiting for a train. Pardon the loud train. Cheers.
Day 36—Floo Powder

Had to think on my feet for this one as I was leaving my apartment for Philly to see my grandfather. I wish the focus had been a little bit better, but, there’s fire!
